All the recent processes in Central Asia took place against the background of no less interesting processes that took place in Russia itself. For example, most recently, residents of the country witnessed a new political reality show, which can be called "the exposure of British spies from the British Embassy." Why show? Everything is very simple. Such information could be the news of the day and no more. Nevertheless, everything was presented as a detailed documentary. If we take into account the fact that spies under diplomatic cover are exposed only when it is necessary for the revealing party (it’s hard to be an "illegal" working in the embassy), then the question is who needs it and why. There is no need to go far for the answer. It is necessary for the government. In order to justify the strengthening of control over non-governmental organizations (NGOs). After all, it was not for nothing that spies were found immediately after a well-known decision was taken on these organizations. Now, the authorities can rightfully refer to the result of the work of the valiant special staff. services when it comes back to NGOs. Of course, we can agree that the financing of these organizations would be transparent. But with such a “principled” approach to business and close attention, if you wish, you can find dozens of far-fetched violations and close, practically, any disagreeable NGO, as has already happened in Uzbekistan.
At his annual press conference, Vladimir Putin identified his attitude towards the “spy” scandal. Thus, the head of state expressed himself in the sense that he is for the independence of NGOs, and therefore does not want them to be led by “puppeteers” from abroad. The president, apparently, believes that it would be more convenient and more democratic if the Kremlin "puppeteers" took such leadership.
Fully agree with the author. The current regimes in Uzbekistan and Russia want to lead the people away from the real causes of all problems, find a scapegoat, and have become NGOs. Therefore, at the command of the "front", they began to be harassed. And spy mania is a good excuse for such actions!
