Recently, a Radio Liberty correspondent Ogulsapar Muradova was killed in prison in Turkmenistan. According to the authorities, she died by chance. As they say, "fell from a tree on an ax". She was convicted for possession of ammunition, apparently, the court decided to convince everyone that in the basement, a 58-year-old woman kept a warehouse for Bumblebees and Kalashnikovs and had far-reaching anti-constitutional plans. Anyway. This is not the point. In the end, journalists in Central Asian countries were killed and imprisoned several times. At the same time, in all cases of murder, the case was never revealed or everything was explained by such far-fetched reasons that it seemed like the height of stupidity to betray them to publicity, but the authorities went to these nonsense. I remember how 10 years ago Sergey Grebenyuk, an Interfax correspondent, was killed in Tashkent. I was perhaps one of the last to see him alive when I escorted to the metro station. He disappeared in winter and his body was found in winter. What was my amazement at the moment when the representatives of law enforcement agencies at a press conference explained his death by the fact that he decided to swim in the canal and drowned! This could only be explained by stupidity and deceit. And how can one explain the fact that the “powerful of the world” tirelessly hinted that Grebenyuk was a complete alcoholic and got into the water under the influence of alcoholic intoxication? Probably only cowardice and meanness. Only then I realized that all the journalists for the Uzbek authorities, who dare to have and express their opinions, are either complete alcoholics (like your humble servant), or abnormal (like Jamshid Karimov, who was recently sent to a psychiatric hospital in Uzbekistan), or homosexuals or pedophiles ( how Ruslan Sharipov was accused at various times in Uzbekistan or Sergey Duvanov in Kazakhstan). Perverts, in general. Muradova, not falling under all these "definitions", turned out to be a terrorist. But the authorities themselves are white and fluffy, Nazarbayev, for example, is going to chair the OSCE and receive the Nobel Peace Prize, Niyazov will export gas to Russia on an unprecedented scale (and receive the same unprecedented income from it). Russia will be “friends of houses” (and armies). And the murder ... It will be forgotten and no one will answer for it. It always has been.
