CIS: Divorce necessarily?
After the events in Kyrgyzstan in the post-Soviet space, the topic of the existence of the CIS as a political union has once again become topical. Namely, there is no political, since there are no other real forms of cooperation between the former Soviet republics. There are remnants of military cooperation and in addition to several bases in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Georgia, there is a presence in the form of an arsenal in Transnistria, advisers in various military departments in several other states, as well as the so-called peacekeepers in Abkhazia.

Large maneuvers
At the end of 2004, parliamentary elections were held in Tajikistan, after which Saparmurad Niyazov (Turkmenbashi) declared that “we will never elect members of the Mejlis (parliament) through parties and factions. If we start to create groups and vote on the lists, it is possible that the interests of any group will be infringed. Therefore, until 2020, elections to the Turkmen Mejlis will not be held on party lists. ”

North route
The third month in Kazakhstan is discussing the decision of the Ministry of Transport and Communications on the transfer of all international airlines from Almaty to Astana by September of this year. At the same time, despite the apparent dissatisfaction of the business community, investors and almost all Almaty citizens (one tenth of the population of Kazakhstan), the government does not listen to the arguments of either businessmen or parliamentarians.

"Foreign" budget
Economists claim that the money imported by labor migrants into the country is equal to the annual state budget of Tajikistan, which is about $ 420 million (2005). Last year, labor migrants transferred $ 270 million through banks only, about the same amount is imported in cash. Without exaggeration, it can be said that their labors ensured economic and social stability within the country. But every year it becomes more difficult for them to raise these funds.

All power to men?
Under the revolutionary quiet, many did not notice that women, who constitute 52% of the population of Kyrgyzstan, in the new unicameral parliament do not have a single (!) Representative in it. Thus, the country next five years, will rule the "legislative bachelor". Women are excluded from the level of decision making; they cannot have a significant impact on the future of the country.
