On May 18th, something happened that was long overdue. President Nazarbayev no longer has to think about his special authority: the parliament approved amendments to the country's Constitution, initiated by Nursultan Abishevich himself. The bill was submitted 48 (!) Hours before the consideration, the review itself took 18 (!) Minutes. 116 deputies voted in favor of the amendment, one against.

Customs relations between the countries of the Central Asian region very illustratively demonstrate disharmony in relations in general and in many respects - the state of the countries themselves. According to the director of the Center for Analysis of Social Problems, Meruert Makhmutova, despite the initiatives of countries for regional cooperation, trade within the region remains limited.

Desperate diplomacy
Four boarding houses on the north coast of Issyk-Kul can cost the viability of the new Kyrgyz-Kazakh political union. Prime Minister Almazbek Atambayev made the decision to transfer for 49 years the four resorts on the northern shore of Issyk-Kul, which are de facto owned by citizens of Kazakhstan.

Cross-Border Revenue
Only a few years after the collapse of the USSR, the governments of the newly formed countries were preoccupied with issues of integration and cooperation. Different motives led them to this. For some Central Asian countries, this was the main condition for survival, since the economy and industry of the single economic space was practically paralyzed.

On May 18, Turkmenistan celebrated the 15th anniversary of the country's Constitution. But somehow this holiday looked strange. Its official name was “The Day of Revival, Unity and Poetry of Makhtumkuli Fragi”. There is not a word about the Constitution in the title of the holiday, as if the authorities themselves were embarrassed that this long-suffering document "... was not accidentally adopted on days when the Turkmen people celebrate the birthday of the great poet ...", as the official Turkmen press wrote.

Gas sold! Democracy too ...
Sudden meetings of the heads of Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and the heads of Uzbekistan virtually joined them, as well as the documents signed by them on the construction and modernization of gas pipelines and the sale to Russia of everything that is burning, has generated a lot of comments and judgments.
