Hearing test
For several weeks now, an event has been discussed, which politicians nostalgic for the USSR were waiting for, as well as shedding tears by compatriots who believe that the Soviet Union was a model. A model of the friendship of peoples, in which there were no "persons of Caucasian nationality" and other "pasties". The model of economic prosperity, in which sausages and boiled sausage were valued more than comfortable clothes or the opportunity to see Venice.

Punishment posthumously
Exactly three years ago, to be exact, on July 15, 2004, the President of Tajikistan signed the Law “On Suspending the Use of the Death Penalty”, according to which a moratorium on the use of the death penalty is introduced in the territory of Tajikistan. As an alternative to this type of punishment was life imprisonment.

Caution: the enemy does not sleep
On the eve of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Kyrgyzstan, the government of the country was in the midst of another spy scandal. This time they caught the “Chinese spy”, and right on the threshold of the meetings of the ministers of defense of the SCO member states in Bishkek. On June 22, 2007, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kyrgyzstan sanctioned the arrest of a senior consultant to the parliament’s press service, Zhyparkul Arykova.

Victory wins
Until 2010, the Government of Tajikistan intends to reduce the number of poor in the country by one quarter. In connection with this decision, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the country has developed a program "Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS) for the period 2007-2009." This program was presented at a consultative meeting of donors on Tajikistan, which was held in early June of this year.

Forced nomads
With the acquisition of independence (1991-1995), some Central Asian states gained the status of the poorest countries. The economic and social state of all Central Asian countries has declined. Poverty and unemployment increased. As a result, the level of migration has also increased, the Central Asian countries have returned to their past: they began to wander. But even nowadays migrants do not migrate inside the country, but from country to country.

Designers "stability"
According to local analysts, the first reaction of official Tashkent to events in Kyrgyzstan was rather nervous, since Uzbekistan had already lost by that time the perception of itself in the regional arena as an independent and serious player and was turned by the international community almost into a rogue state.

Forward to the past
“God himself told us to unite,” the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, once said, responding to questions from journalists who asked to comment on the initiative to create the Union of Central Asian States. These words contain the essence of the policy of Kazakhstan pursued by him in the Central Asian region.
